sm_elecveloc27_V3 The 27th issue marks the end of Electric Velocipede. After twelve years, one Hugo win, five World Fantasy Award nominations (four for the magazine and one for a story), and countless amazing stories, it’s time for us to close this period in our lives and move to other projects. There couldn’t be a more perfect issue of Electric Velocipede than this one. First is the amazing Thom Davidsohn cover. Then there are stories about mushrooms, candy clowns, paintings, impossible houses, bird women, sisters, Russian wars, and deep space. There is also the expected mix of established and new voices for which we’re known. Thank you for all your support over the years. If you’re a long-time reader, you know you want this. If you’re new, this is a perfect place to start.

This striking piece sets the tone for the wondrous tales you’ll find within. What will you find? Well you’ll find highly advanced alien races, beautiful ballgowns, magical rooms, a horrifying vision of children’s beauty pageants, boats that no longer come to shore, poems of startling visions, and the poignant tale of an Irish astronaut. There are stories from up-and-coming talents like E. Catherine Tobler and Brooke Wonders; multiple Nebula and Hugo Award nominees like James Alan Gardner; and from brand-new authors like Val Nolan. Don’t miss out on this fantastic issue!

Electric Velocipede 25 cover Electric Velocipede 25 is one of our strongest issues ever. After a one-issue hiatus, there are nine poems in this issue. Don’t be scared; they’re all really good. And the stories? They’re fantastic. We have magic elixirs that take you to secret parties, memory loss commando raids, witches and possessed ravens, a shoemaker who learns a secret, more secrets about composers from year’s past, a traveler who seeks out a castrati for his opera, a girl who wants to fly, and the capper of the issue: a story of gods who wreak havoc with people like a child with his toys. Top it off with Jeremy Zerfoss’ haunting cover image “Wolf Girl in the Woods” and this is an amazing issue that you won’t regret.
