Issue #26 Remembrance of the Future

When I was a child I wanted to be a Tyrannosaurus rex when I grew up. Apparently I had big aspirations. In the interest of full disclosure, I also wanted to be a mailbox, so it’s not like I was any cooler as a child than I am as an adult. While neither of those …

Submissions Update 2013

Since we re-opened to submission last October, we’ve accepted slightly more than 1% of the stories sent to us. We only get a few hundred submissions a month so that means we’ve accepted about 15 stories over the past six months. It isn’t a ton of stories like the pro markets see, but it’s more …

New Issue Coming Shortly!

Hey John, what’s going on with Electric Velocipede? Oh, hi there! Uh, Electric Velocipede? Well, actually, we’re very close to a new issue coming out. Really? I haven’t heard anything about it! Yeah… We spent most of February and some of March fighting the flu and bronchitis in our house and when that wasn’t taking …

Kickstarter and Other Thoughts

I shipped out all the Electric Velocipede Kickstarter rewards last week. I knew it was going to be expensive, but the approximately $750 I spent still elicited a gasp from me. Hopefully they show up quickly for everyone (and they don’t show up at my house!). It was a lot of work putting the packages …

Sekrit Anthology Project

Or not so secret as things go. This isn’t an Electric Velocipede thing, but this anthology does feature numerous EV contributors. And our esteemed editor is also one of its editors, so that does make it related after all, right? The anthology is filled with Roller Derby, nightclubs, glam aliens, (literal) party monsters, drugs, sex, …

Looking into 2013

We’re reading through submissions and finding some great stuff (we are aware that there’s a backlog of recommended fiction due to our editor, but he’s working on it). We thought it would be nice to give you a preview of things we’ve accepted so far. “Paradigm Shift” by Julie C. Day (short story) “The Tempting: …
