When it was too late to do anything about it, we realized we didn’t have a working impartial system to select winners. It’s going to take a little bit to get that sorted out, so rather than rush through things, we’ll leave things running until Friday April 6.
For those who’ve missed our other announcements, the plan is to raise money to send John to conventions to spread the word that is Electric Velocipede. As we’ve done in the past, we don’t want to just ask for money, we want you guys to get something out of it, too (although we’ll take donations if you’ve got them). So our thought was that everyone who makes a donation or a purchase in the store will be entered in a drawing to win prizes like back issues (including some not in the store, like the purple cover issue #9, or issue #1), t-shirts, copies of John’s limited edition chapbook (see image above), copies of Happily Ever After, or something from John’s backlog of ARCs.
We know that it seems like everyone is asking for money and donations right now. There’s been two excellent Kickstarter campaigns recently (the Locus Photo and Ephemera Archive Project and Jess Nevins’ The Encyclopedia of Golden Age Superheroes) and there are tons of other things that deserve funding and your dollars. If we don’t fit into our budget, that’s how it works sometimes. But if you could spread the word so that we can reach as many people as possible, that would be wonderful.
(and yes, John pledged support to Locus when he should be saving money for convention travels! they pulled right on his librarian heartstrings! don’t worry, we’ve talked to him about it)
So, if you can, make a donation or head to the store and be a part of the contest! If you can’t do that, tell a friend!
